General Questions

  1. What is the Tour De Lis?

    The Tour de Lis is a road cycling event that raises money for national and local beneficiaries. It’s not a race – it’s a ride with a purpose – to raise funds for and awareness about cancer survival, support, and research. A 5K walk/run was added in 2010, and the event continues to grow and evolve.

  2. Who can participate in the Tour De Lis?

    Individual, corporate, and family teams are welcome and encouraged to participate. All cyclists must be at least 12 years of age. All cyclists must wear a bike helmet. Baby seats and child carriers attached to bikes are not permitted. Every age can particpate in the walk/run, and baby carriages are allowed.

  3. What’s the course?

    The latest course maps are here; the 2012 maps will be up soon.

  4. How long is the course?

    The walk/run is 5k. The bike course is a 3-mile loop. You may ride as many loops as you wish.

  5. What is the goal of the Tour De Lis?

    The goal of the Tour de Lis is to provide a safe, fun, non-competitive athletic event open to all ages and levels of ability, while bringing cancer awareness to the community and raising funds for organizations that are in the forefront of Cancer Survivor Support. Our vision is to engage the New Orleans community and the entire nation of individuals, families, corporations, and volunteer organizations to unite in the effort to raise awareness, funding, and knowledge levels with respect to cancer treatment, research, and survivorship.

  6. Where can I park?

    Parking for Tour de Lis is available at Tad Gormley Stadium. Do not park on the median/neutral ground of Marconi Drive or you will be ticketed.

Fundraising

  1. Who benefits from the funds raised by Tour de Lis?

    Proceeds from the 2012 Tour de Lis will benefit our both national beneficiary the Lance Armstrong Foundation and the Greater N.O. Cancer Survivor Community,

  2. Is there a minimum amount I’m required to raise for the Tour De Lis?

    We encourage each individual to set their own personal fundraising goal and do their best to achieve it. Fundraising prizes will be awarded to the top individual and team.

  3. To whom do I make checks payable and where do I send them?

    All checks should be made payable to the Tour de Lis. Please ask your supporters to mail their donations directly to you so that you can keep track of your fundraising results. Keep a tally of your donations but mail checks as soon as possible to:

  4. How is my fundraising credited?

    If you want credit for your fundraising, you must turn in a completed Tour de Lis donation envelope with your offline and online donations, matching gift forms and donation amounts on ride day.

  5. Are there awards for the top fundraisers?

  6. When is the deadline for fundraising?

    Deadline for turning in all fundraising dollars is noon, May 10th, 2012 at noon at Tour de Lis in New Orleans. For further information, please contact us.

  7. What are Matching Gift Programs?

    Many employers have matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. Ask your employer or HR department for more information. Include matching gift amount and forms with your donation envelope.
